Certification Levels

BASSS is the only certification organization dedicated to school safety & security professionals in the United States. BASSS was created by emergency management and school safety and security professional, Jeff Sellers. “Our mission is to promote standards for our industry, promote training and collaboration in order to make our schools as safe as possible for students, staff and visitors”.

Prior to BASSS association, there has never been an association dedicated to school safety & security professionals. Our association is strictly for schools located in the United States and includes K-12 public, charter and private schools, junior colleges, universities and colleges and NGO's (Non Govt. Organizations) who serve schools. Our professional ratings show the industry that you have a specific standard of training and experience in the school safety & security industry. All candidates must have served or be currently serving in a school safety or security roll and meet the certification requirements. This includes a staff positions in administration, Technology, Safety & Security with a school or a private NGO who provides safety, security or consulting and/or services for schools. Our certifications are not based on higher education degrees or levels yet, actual specialized industry experience and specialized industry training.

CERTifications for school
safety & security professionals
and school staff

BASSS provides various levels of certifications for several positions within a school. Our certifications are directly related to school safety & security and specific positions within the school. These staff positions all contribute to school safety & security.

We also provide certification for NGO's (Non Govt. Organizations) who work with schools.
